Kenny Young
Young first drew attention in New York's song publishing fraternity as the co-author of Under The Boardwalk, a 1964 hit for the Drifters, later popularized by the The Rolling Stones. His next major success was Captain Of Your Ship, recorded in 1968 by Reparata And The Delrons. Although unsuccessful in the USA, the song reached number 13 in the UK. In keeping with several contemporaries, including Carole King and Chip Taylor, Young subsequently began a recording career, but his engaging singer/songwriter releases were commercially unsuccessful. He moved to London during the '70s and later formed a partnership with Herbie Armstrong. The pair formed Fox, who scored a Top 5 hit with Only You Can (1975), and Yellow Dog, which reached number 8 with Just One More Night (1978). However, Young's unashamedly commercial style later fell from favour and he later withdrew from performing.
