Steve Wynn
Guitarist/vocalist Wynn is one of the pivotal figures in the Los Angeles ‘paisley underground’ rock scene of the early '80s. A former member of the Suspects, which included Gavin Blair and Russ Tolman, later of True West, he briefly joined the Long Ryders, before founding the Dream Syndicate in 1981. Starved of a suitable record label, Wynn established Down There Records, which issued important early sets by Green On Red and Naked Prey in addition to his own group's debut. Dream Syndicate have since pursued an erratic career, blighted by commercial indifference. During a hiatus in its progress Wynn joined Dan Stuart from Green On Red in a ragged, bar-room influenced collection, THE LOST WEEKEND (1985). Billed as by Danny And Dusty, the album featured support from friends and contemporaries and paradoxically outsold the musicians’ more serious endeavours.
