Though he was born in Texas, he was raised in Hayward, before spending the final years of his adolesence in Oakland. A second album, 187 HE WROTE, contained plenty of the funky beats for which that area is renowned. This was gangsta rap in its most primal form, including cuts like I'm The Fuckin' Murderer, and the single, Dumpin' 'Em In Ditches. Despite its simplistic formula, the album proved a runaway success. going from number 97 to number 1 in Billboard's R&B chart in one week.
