Slaughter
When Vinnie Vincent's Invasion disintegrated in 1988, vocalist Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum decided to start a new group under the name Slaughter. Recruiting guitarist Tim Kelly and drummer Blas Elias, they soon secured a deal with Chrysalis Records and recorded STICK IT TO YA. With an approach that fused elements of Kiss, Mötley Crüe and Bon Jovi, their style was ultimately derivative, yet distinctive due to the stratospheric-like vocals of Mark Slaughter. Three minute blasts of memorable metallic pop, complete with rousing anthemic choruses was the usual recipe. Following support slots to Kiss on their American tour, the album took off and peaked at number 18, during its six-month residency on the Billboard album chart. A live mini-album followed, which featured live versions of songs from their debut release.
