Skyclad
This innovative UK thrash-folk-rock crossover group were put together in 1991 by former Sabbat vocalist Martin Walkyier. Enlisting the services of Steve Ramsey (guitar), Graeme English (bass) and Keith Baxter (drums) they were signed by the Noise label. The debut WAYWARD SONS OF MOTHER EARTH combined pagan lyrics, crashing powerchords and electric violin (curtesy of Fritha Jenkins) to startling effect. They are in effect, the heavy metal equivalent of Fairport Convention.
