Paul Siebel
b. c. 1945, Buffalo, New York, USA. For many years Paul Siebel was a popular performer in Greenwich Village clubs. His blend of country and folk music pre-dated its more widespread appeal following the release of Bob Dylan's NASHVILLE SKYLINE album. Although actively pursuing a musical career thoughout most of the '60s, it was not until the following decade that the singer made his recording debut. WOODSMOKE AND ORANGES was a critically acclaimed collection and featured ‘Louise’ Siebel's original composition which was later covered by several acts, including Linda Ronstadt and Iain Matthews. The artist's JACK-KNIFE GYPSY was equally meritorious and an excellent supporting group, including Richard Greene (fiddle) and David Grisman (mandolin), enhanced Siebel's evocative delivery. Public indifference sadly undermined his development although he has remained a popular live attraction.
