Klaus Schulze
Born in Germany, Schulze is one of the fathers of modern electronic music. Originally a drummer, he was a founder member of Tangerine Dream in 1967 and played on the group's debut. His debut solo album was on the Ohr subsidiary of Hansa Records but much of his later work appeared on his own Brain label. During the late '70s he recorded on synthesizer with Stomu Yamashta ( GO TWO) and was the first musician to perform live at the London Planetarium. He also toured with Arthur Brown, who sang on DUNE, an album inspired by Frank Herbert's cult science fiction novel. In the '80s Schulze concentrated on recording albums whose titles and mesmeric synthesized compositions were the essence of ‘new age’ music. In 1987, he recorded the soundtrack for the film BABEL with Andreas Grosser.
