Jud Strunk
b. Justin Strunk, Jnr., 11 June 1936, Jamestown, New York, USA. Strunk was a story-telling banjo player who was popular in both the country and pop markets at the time he died in a plane crash on 15 October 1981. He was raised in Farmington, Maine and was entertaining locals even as a child. He performed as a one-man show for the US Armed Forces and appeared in an off-Broadway musical production titled Beautiful Dreamer. He relocated to California in the early '70s and appeared on television with his story-songs. In 1973 he signed to MGM Records and released Daisy A Day, a song that appeared on both the pop and country charts. He returned to the country charts three more times, with other humorous tales such as Next Door Neighbor's Kid and The Biggest Parakeets In Town.
