Roscoe Robinson
b. 22 May 1928, Dumont, Alabama, USA. Robinson was a soul and gospel singer in the mid-60s and '70s. After moving to Gary, Indiana at the age of 10, Robinson's singing career began in the early '40s with the gospel group Joiner's Five Trumpets and he became a member of various gospel groups throughout the rest of the decade. He first recorded for Trumpet Records in 1951 with the Southern Sons. In the early '50s, after a spell in the army, he continued working with gospel groups including the Five Blind Boys Of Mississippi. Switching to secular music in 1965, Robinson first recorded What Makes A Man Do Wrong for Tuff Records. His biggest hit came in 1966 with That's Enough, a Top 10 R&B single for Wand Records. Moving over to Sound Stage 7 Records in 1967 did not yield any chart successes and there was one final R&B chart single in 1969 on Atlantic Records. He recorded for several other small labels without success and returned to gospel music in the early '70s.
