Roomful Of Blues
Formed as a seven-piece band in the Boston, Massachusetts, area in the late '70s. Roomful Of Blues quickly established first a national reputation in the USA with their very authentic-sounding, swing big band R&B, and then broke through on the international scene in the '80s. The group honed their first-hand knowledge of the music by playing with many of the originators, as well as having numerous recordings in their own right. They also recorded behind Big Joe Turner, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, and Earl King. The group's main successful alumni include guitarists Duke Robillard and Ronnie Earl, vocalist Curtis Salgado, pianist Al Copley, and saxophonist Greg Piccolo. Despite personnel changes, the group continues to work, though their impact has lessened, due to the plethora of similar groups that have followed in their wake.
