Roogalator
One of the first of the '70s R&B revivalist bands (along with Dr. Feelgood), Roogalator were led by American Danny Adler. He left the USA in the early '70s having played guitar for Bootsy Collins and various jazz and blues musicians. He arrived in London and in 1972 put together the first line-up of Roogalator. Over the years numerous personnel were involved including key names like Paul Riley (of Chilli Willi And The Red Hot Peppers), and Bobby Irwin (of the Strutters, the Sinceros, and various Nick Lowebands). They came under the management of Robin Scott (later the brains behind M.) and in 1973 recorded their best-known track—Cincinatti Fat Back—for a BBC radio session. This was eventually released as an EP by Stiff in 1976. Scott then formed the Do It label in order to release an album by the band whose new line-up was Adler (guitar/vocals), Nick Plytas (keyboards), Julian Scott (bass), and Justin Hilkdreth (drums). Adler also ran a simultaneous career with the De Luxe Blues Band.
