Rock-A-Teens
Formed in the late '50s in Virginia, USA, the Rock-A-Teens were a sextet comprised of Vic Mizelle, Bill Cook, Bill Smith, Paul Evans, Boo Walke and Eddie Robinson. Best known for their Top 20 1959 semi-instrumental hit Woo-Hoo, the group was originally signed to the small Doran label, for which they recorded Woo-Hoo, (on which the only vocal sounds are the words ‘woo-hoo’ shouted repeatedly) and Untrue, a vocal number originally intended as the a-side. The record's distribution was overtaken by Morris Levy of Roulette Records and ascended to number 16 in the US. The group recorded an album and released a second single called Twangy before disappearing again. Member Bill Smith went on to record for Chess Records but the future endeavours of the others is unknown.
