Restless Heart
John Dittrich (b. 7 April 1951, Union, New Jersey, USA; drums/vocals), Paul Gregg (b. 3 December 1954; bass/vocals), Dave Innis (b. 9 April 1959, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, USA; keyboards/vocals), Greg Jennings (b. 2 October 1954, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA; guitar/vocals), Larry Stewart (b 2 March 1959, Paducah, Kentucky, USA; lead vocals/guitar/keyboards), Restless Heart are a latter-day Eagles continuing with the soft-rock sounds and harmonies of one of their favourite groups. They were formed by producers Tim DuBois and Scott Hendricks in 1983, originally as the Okie Project, but it took them two years to develop their sound and obtain a record contract. Their first single, Let The Heartache Ride, gained them some attention and then hit followed hit. Between 1986 and 1988 they topped the US country charts six times; That Rock Won't Roll, I'll Still Be Loving You (also a pop hit and now much requested at weddings), Why Does It Have To Be (Wrong Or Right), Wheels (their best-known record, written by Dave Loggins, and in the same vein as the Eagles' Take It Easy), Bluest Eyes In Texas and the emotion-packed ballad, A Tender Lie. Stewart left for a solo career and his first solo album, DOWN THE ROAD (RCA 1993), included guest appearances from Vince Gill and Suzy Bogguss. Restless Heart decided to remain as a quartet and won the ASCAP song of the year with When She Cries. In the early '90s Innis left the band and MATTERS OF THE HEART just shows the remaining members on the cover.
