Clive Palmer
The ‘forgotten one’ from the Incredible String Band, Palmer founded the the group as a duo with Robin Williamson, and featured on the debut album. Subsequently, he moved to India, and, on his return, formed the Famous Jug band with Jill Johnson (vocals), Pete Berryman (guitar) and Henry Bartlett (jug), and himself on banjo. After recording SUNSHINE POSSIBILITIES (1969), he worked with C.O.B. (Clive's Original Band), along with John Bidwell (banjo) and Mick Bennett (percussion), on SPIRIT OF LOVE (1971) and MOYSHE MCSTIFF AND THE TARTAN LANCERS OF THE SACRED HEART (1972). Since then, he has continued to work with a variety of units, and as a solo performer. A highly accomplished musician, the Original String Band would probably have sounded rather differently had he remained with them.
