Andrew "Big Voice" Odom
b.15 December 1936, Denham Springs, Louisiana, USA. Odom occasionally worked under the name of 'BV' or 'Big Voice'. He sang in a church choir as a child; his family moved north in the mid-'50s, settling in St. Louis, Missouri. While there Odom sometimes worked with Albert King and reputedly recorded in the late '50s. He moved to Chicago in 1960 where he had long associations with Earl Hooker and Jimmy Dawkins. Singles under Odom's same have appeared on several local labels, and he made his debut album for Bluesway in 1969. Since then he has also recorded for Wasp Music and French labels MCM and Isabel. Odom is an intense, powerful blues singer, influenced by B.B. King and Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland.
