Nine Below Zero
A British rhythm & blues band of the late '70s, the group took its name from a song by Sonny Boy Williamson IIand was led by guitarist/singer Dennis Greaves and virtuoso harmonica player Mark Feltham. With Peter Clark (bass/vocals) and Kenny Bradley (drums), Feltham recorded the EP PACKED FAIR AND SQUARE (1979). This led to a recording deal with A&M and a live recording at London's Marquee Club where Nine Below Zero had a residency. The producer was Glyn Johns. With Stix Burkey replacing Bradley, the second album included some original songs while THIRD DEGREE was a minor UK hit. The band dissolved in the mid-80s as Feltham concentrated on session work and Greaves went on to a solo career and became a member of the Truth. However, Feltham revived Nine Below Zero at the end of the decade, signing a new recording contract with the China label.
