N-Joi
Two brothers from Essex, England, ‘brothers of hardness’, N-Joi comprise Mark Franklin and Nigel Champion, plus singer Saffron. Their five minutes of fame arrived with Malfunction (DeConstruction 1991), a completely over-wrought affair much admired by their near-neighbour, Liam Howlett (Prodigy). They released a recording of their stage set, LIVE IN MANCHESTER, for the same label in February 1992, which lasted over 28 minutes and included over a dozen separate tunes in the mix. They followed up with a more conventional EP, which included a Moby remix of their Mindflux single for RCA in the US. Saffron attempted to launch herself solo with garage singles like One Love for WEA in 1992.
