Teo Macero
b. Attilio Joseph Macero, 30 October 1925, Glens Fall, New York, USA. A member of the first Charles MingusJazz Composers' Workshop in 1953, Macero's keen interest in composition led to an involvement in the Third Stream Music and Guggenheim Awards for composition in 1957 and 1958. It was arguably after he joined CBS as a producer in 1957 that Macero had his greatest influence. Working on many of Miles Davis' finest albums, he played a particularly important role in IN A SILENT WAY and BITCHES BREW, where his editing gave the albums their form. He continues to perform on the saxophone.
