MLO
A collaboration between UK-born Jon Tye and Pete Smith through the Rising High imprint, MLO's debut album was also the soundtrack to a film of the same name—shown as live accompaniment to Pink Floyd gigs in 1994. The project was put together in an intensive two week period inside one of the world's most advanced multi-media studios. The term ambient was almost inevitably invoked, though the duo opted to disassociate themselves from the bulk of the artists working within that genre. The album was titled after the seventh moon of Jupiter, the only entity in the solar system, aside from the earth, known to be volcanically active. As well as recording a film for use alongside their debut album, and producing videos for other artists, Tye has also recorded solo as Flutter (Flutter).
