Millenium
This Los Angeles-based act emerged in 1967, when two former members of Ballroom, producer/songwriter Curt Boettcher and guitarist Lee Mallory, joined forces with singer/guitarist Michael Fennelly. Doug Rhodes (organ/bass), Sandy Salisbury (guitar) and Ron Edgar (drums)—all ex- Music Machine—and Joey Stec (guitar) completed the line-up of an act enhanced considerably by the production skills of Gary Usher. BEGIN offered the sweet, close harmonies of west coast contemporaries the Association and Harper's Bizarre but, despite considerable acclaim, it was not a commercial success, and the unit was officially disbanded soon afterwards. The musicians also contributed to the concurrent Boettcher/Usher project, Sagittarius, while Fennelly, Rhodes and Edgar subsequently formed Bigshot.
