Meanstreak
Hailing from New York, Meanstreak were formed in 1985 by guitarists Marlene Apuzzo and Rena Sands. Recruiting vocalist Bettina France, bassist Martens Pace and drummer Diane Keyser, they were the first all-female thrash metal band to record an album. Signing to the independent MFN label, they released ROADKILL, produced by Alex Perialas and ex- Raven drummer Rob Hunter. Recorded within a week, it was amateurish and even shambolic at times. The songs were rigidly formularized, lacked identity and featured weak vocals. The album is only of interest to thrash aficionados, even then, on an historical, rather than musical level.
