L.C. McKinley
b. between 1914 and 1920, Winona, Mississippi, USA, d. 19 January 1970. McKinley is one of the mystery figures of the post-war Chicago blues. He had a much smoother style than most of his contemporaries and was obviously influenced by T-Bone Walker. McKinley was playing in Chicago in the '40s, and recorded as an accompanist to Tampa Redin 1953 and then, under his own name, for States the following year and for VeeJay Records in 1955, and finally for Bea And Baby in 1959, before he dropped out of the music scene. Willie Dixon reputedly attempted to revive his musical career in the '60s, but to little avail.
