Charly McClain
b. Charlotte Denise McClain, 26 March 1956, Jackson, Tennessee, USA. McClain began her musical career when only nine years old with her brother in a band called Charlotte And The Volunteers. For six years they worked locally and also had television appearances. She then started modelling swimsuits, changed her name to Charly and was signed to Epic in 1976. She had US country hits with Lay Down, Make The World Go Away, Surround Me With Love and a duet with Johnny Rodriguez, I Hate The Way I Love It. McClain had her first US country number l with the soap opera saga of Who's Cheatin Who’. This was followed by Sleepin With The Radio On’ and two duets with Mickey Gilley, Paradise Tonight (a number l) and Candy Man. In 1983, she married Wayne Massey, a star of the television soap ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and they scored with the duets With Just One Look In Your Eyes and You Are My Music, You Are My Song. Massey encouraged her to record Radio Heart, also a US country number l, and he became her record producer when she switched from Epic to Mercury Records. McClain has appeared in the television series, HART TO HART and FANTASY ISLAND, and has been featured in numerous commercials.
