Brian May
b. 19 July 1947, Twickenham, Middlesex, England. Best known as the flamboyant and highly original guitarist in Queen, May has also recorded in his own right. In the summer of 1983, he teamed-up with Eddie Van Halen (guitar), REO Speedwagon's Alan Gratzer (drums), Fred Mandel (keybords) and Phil Chen (bass) for a super session, which was released under the title STAR FLEET PROJECT. He subsequently produced the spoof heavy metal group Bad News and as well as the recording of Anyone Can Fall In Love by his actress/lover Anita Dobson. He also worked with Steve Hackett, completed a solo album and, in 1991, wrote and recorded the score for a production of Shakespeare's MACBETH. Following a commission for an advertisement by the Ford Motor Company in 1991, May released Driven By You as a single which became a sizeable hit at the end of 1991. He was one of the prime organiser's of the Freddy MercuryAid Benefit in 1992.
