Bob Miller
The instrumental group, Bob Miller And The Millermen, appeared regularly on UK television and radio programmes in the '50s and early '60s. After being noticed at several London gigs, including one at the Locarno Ballroom, Streatham, in London, on Coronation Day, 2 June 1953, Miller appeared on BBC television's DIG THIS. He subsequently toured with current pop stars, including Cliff Richard, Bobby Darin, the Four Freshmen and Shirley Bassey. Later, on shows such as DRUMBEAT (for eight years), and the radio series, PARADE OF THE POPS (‘a review of the week's popular music, and prediction of hits to come’), they backed many of the UK's top vocalists, and had their own featured spots. Their records included Muchacha, Square Bash, Dig This, The Poacher, Little Dipper, In The Mood, My Guy's Come Back, The Busker's Tune, Manhunt, 77 Sunset Strip, Joey's Song and THE EXCITING SOUNDS OF BOB MILLER. Miller's abiding interest was yacht racing, and in June 1972, he participated in the Transatlantic Race, providing a day-by-day radio commentary. In 1978, he and the Millermen released BOB MILLER & M.
