Bob Manning
b. USA. Manning was a highly accomplished ballad singer during the '50s—although perhaps, underrated—whose career probably suffered because of an uncanny vocal similarity with the more popular Dick Haymes. Nevertheless, Manning had several US hits on Capitol in the early '50s, including an impressive reading of The Nearness Of You, All I Desire, and Venus De Milo. His other releases included a set of classy ballads, LONELY SPELL and OUR WEDDING SONGS. Like Haymes, Manning did not survive the onslaught of rock ‘n’ roll and beat music.
