Oliver Lieb
b. c.1970, Frankfurt, West Germany. A well-known and highly-regarded member of Sven Vath's Eye Q/Harthouse stable and Omen Club, Lieb's most popular work thus far came out under the Spicelab moniker, which varied between hard house, acid and trance cuts. Contrastingly he utilised the name Mirage for the more spacey, transcendental theme of Airborn. Other nom de plumes employed include Ambush, whose debut album was an enchanting collection of ‘world techno’ tracks, dominated by a thorough exploration of drums and rhythm: ‘I programmed it in the way that I would lay the drums, the way I would feel them, and then I took vocals from CDs and old records’. Lieb also works as Superspy, Infinite Aura, LSG, Psilocybin and Azid Force. He is half of Paragliders with Torsten Stenzl (Paragliders (The Remixes)), and has remixed for Sven Vath, Vapourspace and Messiah among others. Together with Dr Atmo he recorded MUSIC FOR FILMS, for Peter Namlook's Fax label, an alternative score to Philip Glass' ambient documentary Koyaanisquatsi.
