Lion
After the demise of the highly-underrated and largely overlooked UK hard-rock band Tytan, vocalist Kal Swan left England for Los Angeles to put together his own band. Formed 1983, Lion consisted of Kal Swan (vocals), Doug Aldrich (guitar), Jerry Best (bass) and ex- Steeler drummer Mark Edwards. The band quickly put out a self-financed EP POWERLOVE (only available as a Japanese release) which gained the band a strong following in the Far East. Due to the immense amount of positive interest being shown towards them and the fact that they contributed songs to the soundtracks of the films THE WRAITH and TRANSFORMERS,they attracted the attention of the Scotti Brothers Records label who promptly signed them. This resulted in the band's debut DANGEROUS ATTRACTION being released in 1987. The album proved to be a strong, melodic hard rock release on which Kal Swans' soaring vocals came to the fore. However, Scotti Brothers refused to promote the release and, as a result, album sales suffered. Subsequently dropped by their previous label, the band signed a new recording agreement with the Grand Slamm Records label, resulting in TROUBLE AT ANGEL CITY being released in 1989. Unfortunately, soon after its release, the band folded due to drummer Mark Edwards experiencing a debilitating accident and guitarist Doug Aldrich leaving to join Hurricane.
