Barbara Lynn
b. Barbara Lynn Ozen, 16 January 1942, Beaumont, Texas, USA. Barbara was signed up by producer Huey P. Meaux after hearing a demo tape and watching her perform in a Texas club. Her early records were recorded at Cosimo's New Orleans studio and leased to the Jamie label. Composed by Lynn, You'll Lose A Good Thing (1962) was an R&B chart topper and pop Top 10 in the USA, and was followed by You're Gonna Need Me and Oh! Baby (We Got A Good Thing Goin'). The last of these was revived by the Rolling Stones on OUT OF OUR HEADS. Lynn issued several singles on Meaux's own label, Tribe, amongst which was her version of You Left The Water Running (1966). Subsequent releases for Atlantic Records included This Is The Thanks I Get (1968), (Until Then) I'll Suffer (1972), both of which reached the R&B chart for this accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist.
