K.W.S.
Dance team from Nottingham, England, featuring Chris King and Winnie Williams with a series of guest vocalists. Their big hit arrived with the anthemic Please Don't Go, a cover of the KC And The Sunshine Band standard which followed the European success of a dance version by Double You? (on ZYX). KWS had originally been part of the Network roster as B-Line, but knocked their version out in a couple of hours in their bedroom, at a total cost of £242. The record, which featured Delroy Joseph on vocals (ex-T Cut F) stayed at number 1 for five weeks. The follow-up, Rock Your Baby, was a second KC composition, and was actually recorded in part at the same session as Please Don't Go. Once again it jumped in front of a proposed ZYX label release—who were at that time trying to license Baby Roots' mistitled Rock You Baby. But this time Network could point to the fact that the seeds of Rock Your Baby had been sewn well in advance. The members of KWS left Network amicably in 1994 to form X-Clusive.
