Jerry Kennedy
b. Jerry Glenn Kennedy, 10 August 1940, Caddo Parish, Shreveport, Louisiana, USA. Kennedy has been a featured session guitarist for many top Nashville country stars and in the early '60s, he played lead guitar on some of Elvis Presley's recordings. He also worked with guitarist Charlie Tomlinson and recorded several guitar albums with him under the name of Tom And Jerry. After he became a record producer with Mercury/Phonogram, he produced the recordings of many artists including Roy Orbison, Bobby Bare, Charlie Rich, Patti Page, Roger Miller, the Statler Brothers, Reba McEntire and Becky Hobbs. He was responsible for Jerry Lee Lewis's commercial renaissance in the late '60s, when he steered the killer back towards the country market. He has also worked in several administration posts within the music industry, including that of Vice-President of A&R of the Country Division of Mercury.
