Henry Kaiser
b. Oakland, California, USA. Experimental, avant garde guitarist Henry Kaiser is a prolific musician whose work has run the gamut from free improvisation, to San Francisco-style '60s psychedelia to country music. Kaiser began playing guitar in 1971, influenced by Captain Beefheart's music, and live concerts by San Francisco groups such as Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Grateful Dead. He has recorded numerous solo and group albums for labels such as SST Records and his own Metalanguage, and has collaborated on two albums with guitarists Richard Thompson and Fred Frith, along with former Beefheart drummer John French. The 1990 album, HEART'S DESIRE, included keyboards from early Grateful Dead member Tom Constanten and he has recorded with musicians such as John Zorn, Eugene Chadbourne, the Golden Palominos and Herbie Hancock.
