Jackie Jackson
b. Sigmund Esco Jackson, 5 April 1951, Gary, Indiana, USA. Jackie has spent his entire professional career as a member of the Jackson Five (later known as the Jacksons). He was a founder of the family troupe in 1962, and has remained a relatively sheltered figure within the group ever since. Like his brothers Michael and Jermaine, he was groomed for a solo career at the height of the group's American popularity in the early '70s. When his solitary album flopped, he resumed his place as a backing singer for his younger brothers. By the late '70s, he had won some measure of artistic involvement in the Jacksons’ recordings, and he co-wrote the hit singles Destiny, Can You Feel It?, Walk Right Now and Torture between 1978 and 1982. Since then, he has surfaced only occasionally in the media, expressing his frustration at being overshadowed by the success of his brother Michael.
