Robert Hunter
b. c.1938. Hunter is best known as the long-standing lyricist with Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. His inventive and surreal stories have played a large part in the popularity of this legendary band. His work appears on all of the Grateful Dead's albums but he has also recorded his own solo work. As a lyricist his work is greatly underrated. Hunter never uses unnecessary words and couples his exemplary command of the English language with sometimes intricate and baffling story collages. JACK O'ROSES is a fine example of Hunter at his lyrical best, accompanied by his solo guitar. He collaborated with Bob Dylan on the 1987 Down In the Groove, and continues his work with the Grateful Dead.
