Leif Garrett
b. 8 November 1961, Hollywood, California, USA. Blond teen vocalist, Garrett had already been seen in the film WALKING TALL in 1973. He also appeared in both sequels before signing to Atlantic Records. He hit the US Top 20 with a remake of the Beach Boys' Surfin' USA in the summer of 1977. His US chart career continued with updates of Dion's Runaround Sue and The Wanderer and Paul Anka's Put Your Head On My Shoulder, before he moved to the Scotti Brothers label in 1978 and achieved his biggest hit, the disco galloper, I Was Made For Dancing, a Top 10 smash in both the UK and US in 1979. He was instrumental in promoting the skateboard craze in the mid to late '70s in the UK.
