Ian Gomm
b. 17 March 1947, Ealing, London, England. Former Brinsley Schwarz guitarist, Gomm went into semi-retirement from the music business after the break-up of the group in 1975. After a period working in studio production at United Artists with Martin Rushent, Gomm put together a solo album with the assistance of Herbie Flowers(bass— also of Sky), Barry De Souza (drums) and Chris Parren (keyboards). Although completely out of step with the then-current fashion of punk, the album revived memories of the golden era of pub rock in enough people to entice Gomm for a short spell back on the road. An unexpected bonus in the shape of US Top 20 single with Hold On in 1979 gave optimistic portents for the future, but all efforts for a successful follow-up failed. Gomm's brief flush of stardom faded after the release of his second album, and despite continuing to issue albums into the '80s, big time success still eludes Gomm.
