Green Apple Quick Step
Led by vocalist Ty Willman, alongside Mari Anne Braden (bass/vocals), Seattle's Green Apple Quick Step underwent a difficult germination. The rock band's debut was critically well-received but not pushed by their record label (at that time the label, Medicine Records, was backed by Reprise Records), a problem doubled by the failure of the band to secure mainstream airplay. When their tour van was stolen midway through touring in support of the debut, a reappraisal was called for. This resulted in the band moving over to Medicine/Giant Records, and a second album co-produced by Nick DiDia and Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard, with whom the band share management (Gossard also allowed the band to use his home studio facility free). This second collection included Dizzy, featured on the soundtrack to The Basketball Diaries film.
