Brian Godding
b. 19 August 1945, Wales. Godding is a self-taught guitarist who started his professional career in the rock bands Blossom Toes and B.B. Blunder before John McLaughlin's EXTRAPOLATION ‘opened the door to jazz’. He played with Magma and Dick Morrisey before performing with Keith Tippett's band Centipede in the early '70s. Since then he has played with many British musicians but has worked most regularly with Mike Westbrook who describes him as ‘one of the truly great guitarists’. His playing reflects his own eclectic taste in guitarists which ranges from John McLaughlin right through to Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix. He also writes songs with the singer Kevin Coyne.
