Michael Formanek
b. 7 September 1948, San Francisco, California, USA. Formanek studied the bass privately in San Francisco and New York before playing with artists such as Eddie Henderson, Joe Henderson, Dave Liebman and Tony Williams and moving to New York in the late '70s. There he worked with Chet Baker, Bill Connors, Mark Murphy and Herbie Mann before moving to Germany. There he played in the Media Band and then joined Gallery with Paul McCandless, David Darling, David Samuels and Michael DiPasqua (drums).
