Jack Fallon
b. 13 October 1915, London, Canada. Fallon went to Britain with the Canadian Airforce and settled there in 1946. He established a professional career playing bass in the bands of Ted Heath and Jack Jacksonand played with George Shearing in 1948 with whom he accompanied Duke Ellington. Fallon became the staff bassist for Lansdowne Records where he recorded with a wide variety of musicians—from Josh White (vocal/guitar) through Alex Welsh and Humphrey Lyttelton to Joe Harriott. In the mid-50s he had a successful sextet called In Town Tonight. It was during this period that he started his Cana Agency which later represented Kenny Ball. Fallon played regularly with light orchestral bandleaders like Frank Chacksfield and Ron Goodwin, worked as a violinist with country musicians and even recorded with the Beatles in 1968. Since then he has concentrated on his agency but he did play with Lennie Felix (piano) in the '70s and later with Stan Greig (piano) and Digby Fairweather.
