Fandango
American melodic hard rock outfit formed in 1976 by vocalist Joe Lynn Turner and guitarist Rick Blakemore. Enlisting the services of Larry Dawson (keyboards), Bob Danyls (bass) and Abe Speller (drums), they signed to RCA the following year. They produced four albums in four years, with each successive release featuring more accomplished and memorable compositions. Influenced by Kiss, Deep Purple, Journey and Styx, their style was rigidly formularized and totally geared to US FM radio playlists. The band disintegrated in 1981, with Turner embarking on a solo career. His first release was FANDANGO, which comprised tracks re-recorded from the band's four albums. Turner subsequently went on to play with Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force and Deep Purple.
