Ernie Freeman
b. 16 August 1922, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, d.16 May 1981. A noted pianist, arranger and producer, Freeman enjoyed a series of minor hits during the late '50s and early '60s. His chart entries included Dumplins (1957) and Indian Love Call (1959), but his biggest success came with a cover version of Bill Justis's smash Raunchy. Although the original reached the US Top 3, Freeman's interpretation peaked at number 12. He recorded as B. Bumble And The Stingers on all of this act's releases, bar Nut Rocker, before embarking on a successful session career. Freeman appeared on material by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Connie Francis, and later became musical director with the Reprise Recordslabel, a post he held for 10 years. Freeman retired during the '70s and died from a heart attack.
