Dick Feller
b. 2 January 1943, Bronaugh, Missouri, USA. Feller grew up with a love of both country and blues music and became a proficient rock ‘n’ roll guitarist. In 1966, intent on becoming a professional songwriter, he moved to Nashville and found work playing sessions or going on the road with musicians including Skeeter Davis, Warner Mack and Mel Tillis. Johnny Cash had a US number 1 country hit with Feller's Any Old Wind That Blows in 1972. Jerry Reed did the same in 1973 with Lord Mr. Ford, a song rejected by Jimmy Dean, and recorded many more of Feller's songs: East Bound And Down (for the film SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT), Second-Hand Satin Lady (And A Bargain Basement Boy) and The Phantom Of The Opry. In the mid-70s Feller had his own country hits with Biff, The Friendly Purple Bear, Making The Best Of A Bad Situation, Uncle Hiram And His Homemade Beer and a narrative which is even more pertinent today, The Credit Card Song. His tours of UK country clubs have shown that he is not just another Feller and he can stop any show with Daisy Hill.
