Dean Friedman
This New Jersey, USA born vocalist found instant success on both sides of the Atlantic with a mixture of sentimental ballads and joyful pleasant tunes about romance. He scored a US hit with Ariel which made ripples in Europe, but his 1978 record Lucky Stars, reached the Top 3 position in the UK and made him a household name. A lack of promotion and sporadic record releases led to declining sales (due mainly to problems at the Lifesong/GTO label), although Lydia gave him his last notable chart hit, reaching the UK Top 40. Although he briefly recorded for the Epic label, releasing RUMPLED ROMEO in 1982, throughout the '80s he released occasional singles on minor labels. One track though The Lakelands was included on a compilation album which sold a quarter of a million units. He re-appeared in 1990 writing and performing the soundtrack to a low-budget British horror film I BOUGHT A VAMPIRE MOTORCYCLE.
