Bobby Freeman
b. 13 June 1940, San Francisco, California, USA. Freeman is generally recognized as his home city's first rock ‘n’ roll star by virtue of Do You Want To Dance. This 1958 smash hit was later immortalized by the Beach Boys and Cliff Richard. The singer scored further success in 1964 with C'mon And Swim, a dance-craze novelty song produced, and co-written, by Sly Stone. Bobby later preferred to pursue his singing career at a local topless club, but more recent appearances at the annual San Francisco Bay Area Music ('Bammy') awards showed him an able performer.
