Eleventh Dream Day
This US group was formed in Chicago in the mid-80s and comprised Rick Rizzo (guitar/vocals), Janet Beveridge Bean (drums), Douglas McCombs (bass) and Baird Figi (guitar/vocals). Its brand of college-rock, in the mould of the Pixies and Dream Syndicate drew on music from the '60s and '70s, with the guitar histrionics of Television, Neil Young and Crazy Horse combined with a whiff of psychedelia. Signed to the Atlantic label, Eleventh Dream Day seemed set to break away from their cult-status in the '90s. This impetus was struck a blow early in 1991 when Figi quit and was replaced by Wink O'Bannon. LIVED TO TELL was recorded in a studio-converted Kentucky barn in an attempt to obtain the feeling of a live recording.
