Jerry Donahue
b. 24 Setember 1946, Manhattan, New York, USA. This stylish guitarist arrived in Britain in 1961, aiming to further his academic education. He was, however, attracted to music, garnering plaudits in Poet And The One Man Band prior to joining Fotheringay, the short-lived but innovative unit formed by Sandy Denny. Donahue continued his exemplary work with Head Hands And Feet, but is better recalled for a spell with Fairport Convention. He remained with this renowned folk-rock group between 1972 and 1976, contributing to three of their late-period albums before opting for a career as a session musician. This did not, however, preclude solo recordings and the guitarist's recent album releases show him exploring ‘new age’ styles. Like Richard Thompson, Donahue is a guitarist's guitar player whose dexterity transends commercial opportunity.
