Dub Syndicate
An On U Sound offshoot which Adrian Sherwood has used as a flag of convenience for various collaborations. The debut Dub Syndicate cassette, for example, saw contributions from Aswad, Roots Radics and Creation Rebel, while their 1993 LP, ECHOMANIA, included credits for U-Roy, Lee Scratch Perry, Akabu and Michael Franti ( Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy). The group had previously made their name as dancefloor dub reggae/bass heavy tunesmiths, fostered under Sherwood's watchful eye. Personnel were recruited as the need arose: their VOL. 2 selection was given focus by the voice of Andy Fairley, who also appeared on the Lack Of Education 45. More recent material has included ethnic chants and mantras, a nod to the global ambient school of club music.
