Dog Eat Dog
Impassioned New York, USA metal crossover crew comprising John Connor (vocals), Dan Nastasi (guitar/vocals), Sean Kilkenny (guitar), Dave Neabore (bass) and David Maltby (drums). However, the stylistic diversity of their debut releases, the 1993 EP WARRANT, and 1994 album, ALL BORO KINGS, also saw them traverse hip hop, hardcore and dancehall reggae as well as more traditional rock riffing. Significantly, it featured contributions from Darryl Jenifer of Bad Brains, with production overseen by Jason Corsaro (Soundgarden, Danzig, Madonna etc.). Accused of jumping the Rage Against The Machine bandwagon in some quarters, the group nevertheless provided an intoxicating blend of forceful musics, while No Fronts offered a caustic reply to their detractors in the press: ‘No front, no tricks, no soap-box politics, no guns, just blunts, we kick this just for fun’. If that sounded like a chip off Cypress Hill's block, then comparisons were accentuated by the introduction of the Solid Ground hip hop crew, and even a brass section. Playing live with both hip hop (Goats, Onyx) and metal/alternative acts (Biohazard, Bad Brains) further extended their audience.
