Daddy Freddy
b. Jamaica, West Indies. Though the holder of the Guinness Book Of Records World's Fastest Rapper title, Daddy Freddie has emerged as more than a simple novelty act. Having enjoyed several hits in Jamaica, he emigrated to London in the mid-80s. Teaming up with Asher D he recorded Raggamuffin Hip Hop for Music Of Life, which brought him to the wider public's attention for the first time, particularly in New York. While his patter blurs the distinction between ragga DJ and American-styled rap artist, Daddy Freddie's irreverent, quickfire mode has enhanced the possibilities of both genres.
